Precious little Pansy recently arrived at our BORA rescue centre in East Borneo. She was just one of the 28 orangutans rescued from the destruction of their forest home.
Pansy’s forest home in East Kalimantan was being decimated by coal mining. Her future and her freedom were ripped from her in moments.
Her mother, overcome with fear and stress, sadly abandoned her. As the two were relocated to their new jungle home, Pansy’s mum was seen fleeing across the river and into the canopy. The trauma of what occurred was just too much for her.
Pansy is now orphaned. She’s lost not only her home, but now her mother too. Her protector, teacher and loving mum are no longer with her.
Pansy arrived at our BORA centre scared, alone and malnourished. She is now receiving around the clock care in quarantine where she’s beginning her long journey of recovery.
Pansy needs dedicated care and support from her babysitters, as she heals from the trauma of losing her mum. With your help, Pansy can soon attend Jungle School with other orphaned youngsters to learn her jungle survival skills. At one year old, Pansy will need to learn how to forage, build nests and climb high up in the canopy.
Pansy is already showing her brave and curious personality. She loves to climb and explore, moving around the Baby House with confidence!
Here’s sweet Pansy hanging out and enjoying a delicious fruit snack!
With your help, Pansy will one day be able to return to the wild, where she belongs. You can help her on her journey of recovery by gifting her the support she needs to heal, learn and grow.
Pansy’s rescue wouldn’t have been possible without your kindness and generosity. Thanks to you, she’s been given a second chance at life. A chance to heal, learn, and one day return to the wild. Thank you for giving her hope for a future where’s she safe and free 🌿 🧡
